Soo-hyun Kim is a dedicated Korean language instructor who has been teaching at the undergraduate level since Fall 2020. She earned her Ph.D. in Translation Studies from the State University of New York at Binghamton and holds an M.A. in Translation from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies. Prior to her doctoral studies, Soohyun built an extensive career as a professional translator and interpreter. This academic background shapes her student-centered teaching style, which encourages learners to actively participate and take ownership of their learning journey.

Soo-hyun believes that learning extends far beyond textbooks. She creates a dynamic and interactive classroom by incorporating contemporary materials, such as K-dramas, films, and documentaries, alongside engaging online tools. Her goal is to make learning authentic, relevant, and fun. What truly excites her is witnessing students evolve from beginners into confident Korean speakers who possess a rich appreciation for the culture. She is passionate about guiding students to discover new perspectives and build meaningful connections through the beautiful and nuanced Korean language.
