The expert behind the curriculum

Meet Una Jeong · 강사 정은화

The exam from the inside — designed by someone who has scored it, writes for it, and has taught it for over two decades.

Una Jeong 정은화

Una Jeong 강사 정은화

Curriculum Coordinator, Hongik University International Language Institute (Seoul)

Una Jeong has spent more than twenty years teaching Korean at major corporations, universities, and language institutes across Korea. What sets her apart for TOPIK prep is that she has worked on the exam itself — she served on the committee that scores it and has authored more than ten books built around it.

That dual vantage point — scorer and teacher — is the foundation of the method behind KOCO TOPIK Prep.

The Una Jeong Method

Strategy plus logic — built for American learners

문제 풀이 전략과 미국 학생 맞춤형 논리 학습으로 TOPIK에 대비합니다.

Through question-solving strategy and logic training built for American students, the course prepares you for the TOPIK — efficiently, in just ten weeks.

Outcome · TOPIK I
A Level 2 pass — and practical, usable Korean
Outcome · TOPIK II
The score to secure Levels 3–4 — reliably
1

Question-solving strategy

Every TOPIK question follows a pattern. The course works through each item type — what it tests, the traps it sets, and the fastest reliable path to the answer.

2

Logic training, built for American students

Rather than translating word by word, you learn to remap the English patterns you already think in onto the Korean logic the TOPIK rewards — sentence order, particles, speech levels. Students get Una's proprietary Logic Mapping guides to support it.

TOPIK I Sentence Structure — thinking in Korean word order

English orders a sentence Subject–Verb–Object. Korean orders it Subject–Object–Verb and attaches a "role tag" (particle) to each piece. Word order for time, person, and place is flexible — it shifts with the speaker's focus.

Example: "I am going to the Korean restaurant with my friend at 1 p.m."
SubjectI
subject + 은/는
Timeat 1 p.m.
1시time + 에
Personwith my friend
친구person + 와/과
Placeto the Korean restaurant
한국 식당place + 에
Verbam going
가요verb + ending
Result나는 1시에 친구와 한국 식당에 가요.

TOPIK II Causality Registers — from casual excuses to formal grounds

At the advanced level, "because" isn't one skill — it's four. TOPIK II writing rewards choosing the right register for the context. The guide puts them on one scale:

Level4
Definitive basis / formal logic
Grammar like -(으)므로
Academic, legal, thesis
Level3
Objective reason / formal evidence
Grammar like -기 때문에
TOPIK essays, reports
Level2
Subjective logic / persuasion
Grammar like -(으)니까
Advice, suggestions
Level1
Soft / natural connection
Grammar like -아서/어서
Feelings, daily excuses
🔒
The full Causality Level-Up exercise — all four registers worked through with practice prompts and answer keys — is part of the Logic Mapping guide students receive in class.
